Greetings and blessings,

In reply to your letter of 12 Menachem Av: I am hopeful to G‑d that your health improves.

Your statement that, unfortunately, because of the suffering [you have endured because of] your health, you are unable to maintain your study sessions is like someone saying that he cannot take the medicine [prescribed for him], because he is not yet healthy. For study sessions in the teachings of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, הכ"מ, are a medium to draw down blessings for proper health and sustenance. As such, if one complains about [difficulties in earning] a livelihood and health, the intermediary to achieve these ends is to strengthen one’s study sessions. Through these, one’s livelihood and one’s health will be as they should be.

May it be G‑d’s will that you be able to study Torah without any disturbances [from problems with] health or sustenance, as our Sages state:1 “Whoever fulfills the Torah in a state of poverty will ultimately fulfill it in prosperity.”
