Greetings and blessings,

In response to your letter of 11 Menachem Av where you state that a shidduch is suggested for your daughter... with R. .... In my opinion, the suggestion is appropriate.

With regard to what you write — that it is possible that G‑d will send a young man who is a Torah scholar with exemplary character traits — there is a well-known adage of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, הכ"מ: “Our dross is better than their finest.” How much more is it true that our finest is better than their finest of the finest.

May it be G‑d’s will that the bonding between “the grapes of the vine with the grapes of the vine”1 be in a good and auspicious hour and serve as a broad medium to receive all forms of good.

Certainly, you have fixed times for the study of the teachings of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, הכ"מ, in addition to your other study sessions.

With blessing,

Menachem Schneerson
