This letter was sent to the members of the Committee for the Strengthening of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, Machne Israel, and Kehot; i.e., chassidim involved in communal affairs, those distinguished primarily as “bonded with my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, הכ"מ.”

B”H, 5 Menachem Av, the yahrzeit of the AriZal, 5710

Greetings and blessings,

I derived pleasure from hearing that, with G‑d’s help, a committee for strengthening Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, Machne Israel, and Kehot has been established.1 Certainly, you have already started concrete efforts.

I am sending my blessings to the designated members of the committee so that they should take heart and merit [to participate] in the activities of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, הכ"מ, which involves obtaining the means to strengthen and broaden the work of the above institutions. Through this, they will strengthen their bonds with my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, הכ"מ, who from the day of the establishment of these institutions carried the yoke [of their support] on his shoulders. Now it is both the obligation and the merit of all those who are bonded with him to share with him in this “good heritage,”2 “an inheritance without bounds,”3 with which he endowed us.

When one contemplates this obligation and merit thoroughly, the desire — and even the potential — will well up within him in an overpowering manner, and the desire of G‑d that is [vested] in his hands will find success.

Please inform me of the names of each of the members of the committee — if there have been additions — so that I can mention them at the gravesite of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, הכ"מ.

Wishing all of the fellowship all forms of good and awaiting good news,

M. Schneerson
