Greetings and blessings,

In response to your letter of 13 MarCheshvan: Enclosed is a check for 500 dollars1 from our free loan fund. Also enclosed is a note regarding the schedule of payment according to your request.

May it be G‑d’s will that you establish yourself in a fitting matter materially and spiritually. May G‑d fulfill the wishes of your heart in both your general and particular matters.

Undoubtedly, you have already recognized the advantage of [the people of] this country: that [their nature] is “fitting substance that can be given a good form”2 through the appropriate effort, [as reflected in] the sincerity of our Jewish brethren living here. It is both a holy obligation and source of merit for all persons of influence to use their potential to draw close the Jewish men and women in their surroundings to the Torah and its mitzvos to a greater degree than we are so obliigated in other countries. This applies in these times in particular, when in G‑d’s great mercies, He designated us to be among the remnant that has survived.3

With blessings for success,

Menachem Schneerson
