This letter was sent to R. Abba Pliskin, one of the members of the chassidic brotherhood in Australia.
B”H, 17 Elul, 5710
Greetings and blessings,
In reply to your letter of 5 Elul which describes your life history in brief and the nature of your work at present: I took pleasure in reading [the statements] in your letter that you are fulfilling the mission of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, הכ"מ, in your new place. 1 Since you are granted the powers of the principal, [your activities] will certainly be successful.
As explained in many places in Chassidus, through making a vessel in nature, one draws down success that transcends natural [limits].
Regarding the question you [asked]: If, in the future, it is possible to find someone to take your place, should you give him your position [so that] you can work with drawing untutored young men closer to the Torah and its mitzvos? Since the question is not of actual relevance at present, it is not worth devoting energy to finding an answer to it.
Regarding your question concerning your daughter’s education and whether she should attend [public] school: It is fitting to try and organizea class of several girls and take [qualified] teachers so that they will release the students [from the obligation of having to] attend another school. Then, the supervision [over them] will certainly be appropriate with regard to matters of Torah and the fear of Heaven....
As you requested, I will remember you and your household at the gravesite of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, הכ"מ, at an appropriate time.
Enclosed is the kuntreis for Chai Elul that was just published, and an accompanying letter.
Concluding with blessings for a kesivah vachasimah tovah for you, your entire household, and to all the members of our fellowship,
Menachem Schneerson
