This letter was sent to R. Shlomo Yosef Zevin, one of the leading sages of the generation.

B”H, 12 Elul, 5710

Greetings and blessings,

I received your letter of 20 Menachem Av and the request [for assistance] in hachnasas kallah. 1 I immediately communicated with Mr. Mordechai Bistritzky. 2 He replied that apparently there was an error concerning the matter, because he never had any dealings with the Poles. Nevertheless, because he heard about Rav BTK and thinks that he saw him once or twice in Belgium, he donated twice chai dollars. The check is in my possession.

At present, because I did not know the particulars of the situation, I have not yet submitted the check for payment. Please inform me if you desire that I send you the money and if so, in what way, or if I should return the check to the donor.

It was unnecessary of you to apologize for troubling me with this request. Know, once and for all, that I am happy with opportunities like this to do favors for anyone, and in particular .... May G‑d grant me the merit to easily be able to bring about those things that are asked of me.

Enclosed also is the kuntreis for Chai Elul which was just now published, together with the copies of letters accompanying it.

With blessings for a kesivah vachasimah tovah and, included in that as is obvious, for proper health for you and your wife,

Menachem Schneerson
