Greetings and blessings,
I received your letter in which you inquire about how to conduct yourself with regard to the observance of the second day of the festival in the Diaspora. It is somewhat surprising, because such a question should be addressed to a halachic authority. Nevertheless, since you asked, I will answer: I have seen people1 in this situation conducting themselves as residents of Eretz Yisrael,2 for the members of your household live in Eretz Yisrael and your intent is to return. Nevertheless, you should be careful that [your divergence from local practice] not be public. These directives differ from the statements made in the Shaar HaKollel at the outset.
This, however, must be made known: I did not hear this directive from my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe. I did, however, see some people from Eretz Yisrael who visited his holy court who conducted themselves in this manner and it was with his knowledge.
Enclosed is the kuntres for Pesach and a communal letter3 that is relevant to you.
I will conclude with blessings for a kosher and happy Pesach and success in your holy work.
Greetings from one who seeks your welfare,
