Greeting and Blessing:

I received your letter of 24 Kislev about your Tefillin which you had checked. With regard to the Din, whether the Tefillin had been posul or not, you should ask a Rov in your neighborhood, to whom you could give additional details which are lacking in your letter but need to be known in order to answer the Shaalo.

In general, however, in such a situation it would be good to be instrumental in persuading at least one Jew who does not put on Tefillin daily, to do so; and to encourage one who does actually put on Tefillin, and yourself, to review the Dinim connected with the Mitzvah of putting on Tefillin.

Since you mention that your daughter —— has become 3 years old (l’orech yomim vshonim toivos) on the 2nd of Teves, I trust she has begun to light the candles on erev Shabbos (and erev Yom Tov), the importance of which has been greatly emphasized lately. This will also brighten up her Mazel.

And as we are now coming from Chanukah, I trust that you and all your family will increase the light of Torah and Mitzvos at home and outside, with an additional measure of Hiddur, since there is always room for improvement in all matters of goodness and holiness, Torah and Mitzvos, being derived from the Ein Sof.

With blessing,
