By the Grace of G‑d
9th of Teveth, 5737 [December 30, 1976]
Brooklyn, N. Y.

Greeting and Blessing:

Your letter of Dec. 1 reached me with considerable delay.

To refer, particularly, to the end of your letter, in which you write about the Shtar Mechira - needless to say, a Shtar Mechira that is executed by a competent orthodox Rov is entirely within the framework of strict Jewish Law, to use your phrase, and is not, G‑d forbid, a compromise. Hence it is, of course, fully acceptable.

It is surely unnecessary to add to you that in regard to the law of the Torah, called Toras-Emes, there can be no compromise, for where truth is concerned, it is either the whole truth or no truth.

Noting from your letter the urgency of the reply, it is sent to you via Special Delivery,

With blessing,
M. Schneerson
