Inspired I belong to a little congregation of the 'British Commonwealth' on the other side of the world. I feel really priviledged to have heard this outstanding address from our Chief Rabbi and to learn of the inspiration and influence that the Rebbe and Chabad had on his life. Both the Rebbe and the Chief Rabbi have influenced my life. The importance of making leaders, not followers, and the importance of seeing what people can become and inspiring them towards fulfilling their potential, is such a valuable message. I am glad we heard this amazing story before he leaves his role. Kol HaKavod to the Kinus committee for inviting him to speak and recording his address. Reply

Being a Menorah It has come to me in my prayers that we are all Menorahs waithing for the Shamash to light us .We need to have more come from the shadows to be proud of Torah and the Jews who faithfully carry it.We have a new passion to instill in the next generation of Jews . As an older women who's life is half over . Were do women and men go from here? Our spiritual journey began with Adam and Chavah. This was Hashems doing . How do we move forward as Jews not just with knowledge ,but with understanding. For knowledge without understanding is like a runaway train.. Reply

Rabbi Sacks I'm unfamiliar with Rabbi Sacks' political leanings, but I thought his address was and is inspiring! He's pretty good if you ask me! Reply

A few thoughts from a distant admirer! The learned Rabbi has omitted to elaborate on the promise to our father Abraham (note the meaning of אַבְרָם) and its impact on the whole world as mentioned in Genesis 12:1-3. Abraham, incidentally, was not Jewish!
I'll finish on a theo-centric note from Psalm 72:17-19. A lesser vision than the divine conquest over the whole world will not do! Ha-Shem is no tribal deity!

He continues the message #Adagio. Must disagree. Rabbi Sacks has said the same things about the Rebbe for many years, so there was nothing new about that. But as one of the greatest Jewish orators today, Rabbi Sacks is able to put forward a story, a message and wrap it up with a concrete call to action. On the contrary, as Chief Rabbi, he is sometimes too obsequious to the non-Jewish chattering classes in the UK. His positions on Israel, at time, l have been much more critical than Chabad will ever be, and more in-line with Israel's critics. Yet, a great speech and one worth listening to. Reply

Jonathan Sacks Rabbi Jonathan Sacks is a wordsmith par excellence whose head and heart are responsible for some of the most erudite works in the modern Jewish corpus. Criticism has often been levelled at him, in his position as Chief Rabbi, for his obsequiousness towards the Charedi world and this speech is an indication of just that; he has even changed his Hebrew pronunciation to curry favour. There is no doubting his love of Am Yisrael nor of Medinat Yisrael, but this speech is really over the top and does not reflect his hashkaffa at all. If there is a blemish on his position in the community, it is just this, that he failed to stand up for Orthodoxy and caved in to the Chabad/Charedi zeitgeist. Reply

The wisdom of the Rebbe What a powerful idea - If the Nazis sought out every Jew in hate, then we must seek out every Jew in love! Thank you Rabbi Sacks for this inspirational speech and the many references to the wisdom of the Rebbe. Reply

Rabbi Sacks and the Shluchim Listening to Rabbi Sacks, yes it is so credible !!!! - and his ability to sum it all up in this Address, everything we could be thinking of regarding the Rebbe and the shluchim, and he says it. How proud we are to know that you and your families have chosen your life’s work in doing the Rebbe’s work. In the name of all the parents of shluchim everywhere we are so blessed..... Reply
