Here is a simple glass-painting tutorial which you can use to make this Rosh Hashanah honey plate using the illustration designed by Ann Koffsky. I had the pleasure of meeting Ann at the Creative Conference last May, and when I saw this image of the honey bees and apples I knew right away that it would make a beautiful hand-painted plate. The same techniques can be applied to make other designs.

You will need:

  • 1 glass plate
  • 1 small glass bowl
  • Pebeo glass or ceramic paints
  • Pebeo 160 paint outliner
  • Brush
  • 1 traceable apple and honey image

Step 1:

Place the printed image under your plate, and trace it onto the glass using the outline paint. Wait for the paint to dry.

Step 2:

Paint the image, filling in the details using the Pebeo paints. You can trace more pictures into the small honey bowl, or just add color.

Step 3:

Bake your plate on 350º for 30 minutes. You can bake it directly on the oven rack. Keep the plate in the oven while it preheats and cools down.

Now your plate is ready to use!
