This class traces and elucidates the origin, the reasons and the inner meaning of the after-Shabbat prayer of veyiten lechah.
Sometime on Saturday night it is customary to partake of a meal, called a Melaveh Malka, "Accompanying the [Shabbat] Queen," meal.
After the Havdalah ceremony, it is customary to recite the Ve-yiten Lecha, an anthology of biblical blessings: Isaac's blessings to Jacob, Jacob's blessings to Menasseh and Ephrayim, blessings pronounced by Moses, King David, etc.
The evening following Shabbat has particular significance. It is associated with Prophet Elijah & the final Redemption.
