On Wednesday, I want to take the kids to the park. My 9-year-old nephew won’t hear of it. “It’s still too dangerous,” he tells me. He invites a friend over and we all play Rummikub again.
I felt at a loss. How could I comfort this beautiful Jewess? She was broken. How could I make her feel whole again?
When his laptop kept me awake, how I calmed myself down.
"As soon as I got to New York, I had 350 helmets made, and on my next trip to Israel, we gave out the helmets, T-shirts, pamphlets and stickers."
I tried to stay positive, but it was hard. I knew how blessed I was and I felt G‑d telling me to slow down. “But G‑d,” I asked, “so slow? So quiet? It’s lonely in this space!”
“G‑d,” I continued, “You know how much I like that sweatshirt, and I really need it. I’m going to pray to You now and put some extra money in the charity box, and I know You will help me find it soon! Thank you.”
I should have remembered from prior visits that there are two parking lots, and they are hard to find. But it was not at the forefront of my mind.
