From that terrible war that took my brother, Eran, you brought us to another war, a difficult and cruel battle that we had never before experienced. You taught us the most powerful lesson of our lives.
As she comes to say goodbye, I tell her how I hate goodbyes. And I'm not alone. Parting is even hard on G‑d. So difficult, in fact, that He asks us to remain, just one more day.
She looks at me with those large brown eyes. There’s a hint of sadness, doubt, and even fear. She averts her gaze, trying to deny her act, as if she’s trying to take it back.
Every performer's heart constricts until his fellow performer masters his daredevil feat. But here that tension was palpably more evident. After all, this was their son.
I learned a lesson on the meaning of love lately, from my four-year-old daughter.
