Thirteen Principles of Torah Exegesis: G‑d gave the Written Torah to Moses, along with instructions on how one is to study and explain it, extracting nuance and hidden meaning from the simple text. These thirteen principles were codified by Rabbi Ishmael and recorded in the Sifra, and are incorporated into the prayer book to be read on a daily basis.
