Eleazar: (a) (d. 13th century BCE) Third son of Aaron, overseer of the Levites’ dismantling and reconstruction of the Tabernacle during the Israelites’ desert journeys. After his father’s death, succeeded him as high priest. Together with Joshua, divided the Land of Israel amongst the Tribes. (b) A common Jewish name.
