Rabbeinu Tam’s Tefillin: tefillin in which the written passages are arranged in the order prescribed by Rabbeinu [Yaakov ben Meir] Tam (c. 1100-1171); these tefillin are put on by chassidim and others at the end of the prayers, after Rashi’s tefillin have been removed
Rabbi Leibel Schapiro is Rosh Yeshiva of the Yeshiva Gedolah of Miami. He recalls some of the Rebbe’s special instructions to him when he first started to don Rabbeinu Tam Tefillin (in 1965).
