A terrific ice cream topping perfect for those hot summer days when you don't want to turn on the stove.


  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon cold water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¾ pound fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • ½ cup orange juice


Dissolve cornstarch in water. Add sugar. Stir in strawberries. Microwave on high for 2 minutes or until thickened. Stir halfway through cooking time. Add orange juice and microwave an additional 1½ minutes until warm.

Yields about 2 cups
