I used to make this soup as an all day affair, now I can make it in less than hour.


  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 1 lb bag baby carrots, chopped
  • 1 lb. bag of dry split peas
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 package of Sazon seasoning mix (optional)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 cups water


1. Heat pressure cooker pot with oil until hot. Saute onion and garlic on medium until translucent.

2. Add the rest of the ingredients, cover and bring up to pressure. Cook for 20 minutes and then turn off the heat to allow the pressure to slowly release.

3. Serve immediately.
