Communities Abroad Assist Hebron Residents and Soldiers

March 19, 2009 12:00 PM
The Jewish communities of Los Angeles and Rome reached out to the residents and soldiers around the holy Israeli city of Hebron, sending special Purim care packages and some 130 basketballs for local children. Representatives of Chabad-Lubavitch of Hebron spent the Jewish holiday reading the Scroll of Esther at locations around the city, paying particular attention to the Israeli soldiers stationed in the area. The day saw several soldiers celebrate their bar mitzvahs as they donned tefillin for the first time in their lives.
