Capitol Menorah Lighting Warms Subzero Air

December 24, 2008 6:15 PM
Assisted by Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman kindled the giant Chanukah menorah erected outside the state capitol in S. Paul by the Upper Midwest headquarters of Chabad-Lubavitch. Scores of local residents braved the subzero weather to attend the Sunday evening ceremony, which featured lively rounds of Chasidic dancing. Attendees moved into a large heated tent nearby to feast on potato latkes and doughnuts, along with miniature chocolate coins for the children.
