Shabbat Candle-Making a Hit at Chicago’s Israel Walk

May 9, 2008
Thousands of people stopped by a series of booths operated by Chabad-Lubavitch centers in Illinois after the Jewish Federation of Municipal Chicago’s recent Walk With Israel event. Both the 6K walk and the kid-friendly Family Walk culminated in an indoor fair operated by local synagogues. Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois partnered with the Friday Light project to run a candle-making booth staffed by Rabbi Yosef and Sara Moscowitz, co-directors of the Chabad Jewish Center of Bucktown Wicker Park. Other exhibits included a Western Wall picture opportunity, a demonstration of the scribal arts, an arts and crafts center, and a juice-making project.
