Competition Comes to Ukraine Jewish School
March 12, 2008
Jewish students from across Ukraine participated in the first-ever official academic Olympiad at the Beit Menachem Or Avner Chabad day school in Lugansk. The yearly competition, which tests students’ mastery of English, Russian, Ukrainian and Math, can be found at all municipal schools in the country. Last week’s event in Lugansk represented a milestone for the day school, which succeeded in persuading local education authorities to allow its participation despite the fact that it does not hold classes on Saturday.
