West Brighton Synagogue: Sandy’s Destruction Came Quickly

It didn’t take long for Hurricane Sandy to destroy most everything at the Chabad Neshama Center in West Brighton Beach, N.Y., but the water didn’t claim the institution’s Torah scrolls.

Parts of Brighton Beach, N.Y., looked like a wasteland after the passage of Hurricane Sandy, its streets and beachfront deserted as residents who stayed began the arduous task of cleaning up.
