Hawaiian Community Redeems Firstborn Donkey

The Jewish community on the Hawaiian island of Kauai took part in the rare biblical ceremony known in Hebrew as a pidyon peter chamor, or redemption of a firstborn donkey.

Vicky Seigel’s husband Richard hosted a redemption ceremony for his firstborn donkey Yissachar at their citron orchard in Kauai.

Schochet We would have schected the sheep, although schecting was not part of the ceremony, but alas, we don't have a shochet here on Kauai. Reply
