Two Chabad-Lubavitch rabbis feature prominently on a Ukrainian weekly newspaper’s list of the most-influential people in the regions of Odessa and Dnepropetrovsk.

According to a JTA report, Rabbi Avraham Wolff, director of the Jewish community of Odessa and the city’s chief rabbi, was listed at No. 15 in the Russian-language outlet’s list. On the Dnepropetrovsk side, meanwhile, Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetzki, that city’s chief rabbi, appeared at No. 14.

Both figures have presided over an unprecedented growth in Jewish institutions and activities in recent years. Joining them on the list were Eduard Gurvitz and Vladimir Groisman, the Jewish mayors of Odessa and Vinnitza, respectively; and billionaires Igor Kolomoysky and Gennady Bogolubov, who have provided major financial support to Jewish programs in the country. …
