The Jewish community of Krivoy Rog, a steel town in central Ukraine, celebrated the grand opening of its renovated community center last week.

Now handicapped accessible, the new Beit Graham Jewish Center – named after philanthropists Richard and Louise Graham – will house the community of 12,000’s welfare activities, children’s wing, event hall and computer center.

Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Liron Ederi, the city’s chief rabbi, affixed the mezuzah to the center, which was funded by the United Kingdom-based charity World Jewish Relief.

Speakers at the event, which was followed by Lag B’Omer festivities, included Deputy Mayor Georgy Goncharuk, WJR chairman Nigel Leiton and representatives from the Israeli Embassy and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.
