Family and friends of Johanna Justin-Jinich have confirmed that the 22-year-old Wesleyan University undergraduate who was murdered on Wednesday was Jewish.

A friend of the family who lives in Fort Collins, Colo., said that Justin-Jinich and her sister Leah Justin-Jinich were very close with their mother and grandmother, a Holocaust survivor.

"The girls were so nice. They used to come visit their grandmother all the time," said the friend. "They spent a lot of time in our neighborhood."

Rabbi Yerachmiel Gorelik, co-director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Northern Colorado, has reached out to members of the family, offering whatever assistance they may require.
