The Jewish community in a Cape Town suburb welcomed a Torah scroll donated by the Welkom Hebrew Congregation, and celebrated the expansion of Chabad-Lubavitch of the West Coast’s preschool.
Attendees described the double ceremony, complete with a police escort and live music and dancing, to be a memorable event.
The school’s expansion, which saw its facilities grow by 50 percent, brought an extra classroom, indoor gym, updated bathrooms and a lobby.

The parade, which also marked the expansion of Chabad-Lubavitch of the West Coast, moves down Blouberg’s streets to the accompaniment of live music.
