Tel Aviv’s municipal government is kicking off the Israeli city’s centennial celebrations with the writing of a Torah scroll co-sponsored by Chabad-Lubavitch of Tel Aviv.

Mayor Ron Huldai will join city council members, other public figures and rabbis for a Wednesday ceremony at City Hall, where participants will write the first few letters of the holy scroll.

The event will also celebrate the upcoming anniversary of the birth of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory. …
