The international network of campus-based Chabad-Lubavitch centers is coordinating Purim festivities for Jewish students bound for popular vacation destinations over Spring Break.
Beginning this year on March 9, smack dab in the middle of many North American universities’ annual weeklong hiatus of studies, the holiday of Purim commemorates the nullification of an evil decree against the Jewish people as related in the Scroll of Esther.
At a Web site set up by the Chabad on Campus International Foundation, PurimSpringBreak.com, students can find explanations about the various Purim traditions as well as a directory of locations from South Beach to Tijuana where they can listen to the traditional reading of the Megillah. …
