Chabad-Lubavitch Chief Rabbi Zalman Yoffe, chief rabbi of Volgograd, Russia, advocated for increased cooperation between the government and religious communities during a meeting with Kremlin officials.
The conversation with Vladislav Surkov, first deputy chief of staff to President Dmitry Medvedev, and Vladimir Ustinov, minister plenipotentiary to the Southern Federal District, centered on ensuring grass-roots involvement between local religious associations and the authorities in the Volgograd Region.
After the meeting, Yoffe said that the officials “confirmed the readiness of the country’s leadership” to dialogue with religious groups.
