Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Dovid Weitman took the podium at a S. Paulo synagogue last week to thank Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for calling for increased vigilance against anti-Semitism.
Weitman, who founded the Chabad House in the city’s Morumbi section and is the rabbi at the great Beit Yaakov-Safra synagogue, made the comments at a communal gathering of some 1,000 people to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
“We must keep the remembrance alive in order to prevent a mass murder from” happening again, da Silva said in his remarks, according to JTA. …
