Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle was enjoying a Friday night dinner organized by the Chabad-Lubavitch center in Honolulu when the lights went out across the island of Oahu, leaving some 800,000 people in the dark.
The governor told the Honolulu Star-Bulletin that there were plenty of lit Shabbat candles on the table, so they continued with dinner.
Power was restored throughout the area by Saturday morning. …
