The body of Sarah Katie Bond, a 24-year-old Jewish tourist from London who plunged to her death during a biking expedition on the North Island of New Zealand, returned to England for burial.
According to a report by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Rabbi Mendel Goldstein, co-director of Chabad-Lubavitch of New Zealand, came from Canterbury at the request of the family to attend to the body and ensure its proper treatment in accordance with Jewish law.
Earlier this year, Goldstein assisted in the search for Liat Tess-Okin, a 35-year-old Israeli backpacker who went missing after setting out alone on a hike. Tess-Okin’s body was found in May. …
