In cooperation with the National Committee for the Furtherance of Jewish Education, the Jewish Web site Chabad.org is offering daily live Internet broadcasts of a series of ceremonies that mark the completion of studying a tractate of the Talmud.

Known as a siyum, the ceremony is a traditional fixture of the nine days between the beginning of the Hebrew month of Av and the anniversary of the destruction of both Holy Temples in Jerusalem.

The Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory, encouraged the holding of such ceremonies as a way to increase a permissible form of joy in a period known more for the mourning of the Temples.

As in years past, the NCFJE is broadcasting such ceremonies on the radio in New York City.
