The Jewish community of Odessa, Ukraine, protested the construction of a shopping mall near a site suspected of holding the remains of upwards of 26,000 victims of the Holocaust.

According to a report by The Associated Press, Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Avraham Wolff, the city’s chief rabbi, said that construction workers digging in the area found bones, skulls and children’s toys.

The builder, however, disposed of the remains.

The Jewish community lodged a formal complaint in a letter to Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, requesting a halt to the construction. …
