Asher Yarden, Israeli consul general to the southwestern United States, helped affix the mezuzah to the expanded regional headquarters of Chabad-Lubavitch of Texas in a July 13 dedication ceremony.
According to the Jewish Herald-Voice, hundreds of Houstonians came to the ceremony, which included a Chinese auction, cocktail reception and concert.
Founded in 1977 by Rabbi Shimon and Chiena Lazaroff, the center embarked on its current renovations last year.
Upon completion, the expanded center will comprise 30,000 square feet of usable space and house three ritual baths, one for women, one for men and another for purifying kitchen utensils. …
