A film crew seeking to document a Jewish wedding for Russian television viewers joined the scores of friends, family and community members hailing from across Russia and Israel for the Moscow nuptials of Sternie Chavanova to David Feinstein at the city’s historic Marina Roscha Synagogue.

Chavanova, a native of Velikiye Luki in northwest Russia, was previously a student at the Chabad-Lubavitch Machon Chamesh Women’s Institute in Moscow.

Rabbi Avraham Bekerman, director of the institute, read the marriage contract, a traditional part of the cermony.

“The joy was overwhelming,” said Bekerman. “Every wedding of a student is like marrying off a child.” …
