The Baltic Jewish community of Kaliningrad, Russia, sponsored a bus trip and maintenance expedition to the village of Yantarniy, site of the 1945 murder of 7,000 local Jews by Nazi troops.
More than 50 volunteers transported gravel and sod to the site, which now houses a memorial erected with funds contributed by a Kaliningrad community member.
During the visit, participants met with Yantarniy Mayor Alexander Blinov, who arranged for the municipality to provide tools for the effort.
