A Frankfurt state court convicted a 22-year-old German of Afghan descent for the stabbing of Rabbi Zalman Gurevitch, and sentenced the man to three and a half years in prison.
Gurevitch, co-director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Frankfurt, was walking home from services on Sept. 7 when the youth jumped at him, plunging a three-inch knife into his abdomen.
According to The Associated Press, the court determined that the attacker called Gurevitch, who spent several days in the hospital, a “Jewish pig.”
The court acquitted the defendant of a more-severe charge of attempted manslaughter. …
