The Jewish community of Saratov, Russia, hosted a youth seminar for 50 individuals organized by the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia.
At the May 7-11 retreat, which was held at the Avangard Resort on the banks of the Volga River, participants attended lectures on Israeli history, Jewish traditions, the meaning of Shabbat, and the importance of living a Jewish life.
Leah Kubitshek, a Chabad-Lubavitch emissary in the southwest Russian city, led special activities for younger female attendees, including a challah-baking workshop and a girls-only discussion session.
“We have held many seminars in different cities, but the diversity and delicious food offered at this one has surpassed the others,” said Yevgeny Fishman, director of the FJC’s youth department. …
