Noting that she “has tirelessly worked towards instilling a love for Judaism in all those she encounters,” the Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton, Ohio, conferred its Jack Moss Creativity Award on Devorah Leah Mangel.

Mangel, co-director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Greater Dayton, was nominated by community members Amy Bloom and Marci Vandersluis.

“With Devorah, the learning often occurs in a non-traditional manner,” explained Bloom and Vandersluis. “A Shabbat afternoon ‘candy party’ with the kids may evolve into a discussion about the week’s Torah portion, or a Sunday morning children’s ballet class may be sprinkled with a dose of Pirkei Avot.” …
