Polish President Lech Kaczynski received a gift of hand-made shmurah matzah from Rabbi Sholom DovBer Stambler, co-director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Poland, shortly before Passover.
During the meeting, the president inquired of Passover preparations among his country's Jewish population and discussed the efforts of Chabad-Lubavitch at strengthening Jewish life in Poland.
"The president wanted to know about our Passover outreach activities, and was especially enthusiastic to learn that we brought 12 rabbinical students from abroad who conducted communal Seders in eight cities for hundreds of Jews," said Stambler.
"The president clearly appreciates that our focus in leading the Jewish community is in the here and now, and that we are looking ahead to a rich and rewarding future for Jewish life in Poland." .
