Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz, director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Illinois, delivered the invocation at the April 16 session of the Illinois Senate last week. The date corresponded with the 106th anniversary of the birth of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory.

In his prayer, Moscowitz called on the lawmaking body to recognize that their "privileged position is actually the performance of one of the seven Divine laws given to us by G‑d at the dawn of civilization to ensure a peaceful and moral society."

One of the Seven Noachide Laws, maintaining law and order is incumbent upon all human beings.

Referring to Torah teachings emphasized by the Rebbe, Moscowitz concluded by telling the senators: "Every act of goodness and kindness brings us closer to the promise of a more perfect world."
