Pianist Ethan Bortnick, a seven-year-old prodigy from Hollywood, Fla., played for the 300 guests at Chabad-Lubavitch of South Broward’s 27th annual dinner.
Bortnick, a participant in the Chabad center’s children’s programs, can play more than 200 songs by memory and has composed 20 of his own. He has appeared on “Good Morning America” and other talk shows, and performed at last December’s Chanukah Festival at Hallandale, Fla.’s Gulfstream Park.
The dinner followed a groundbreaking ceremony earlier in the day for the second phase of the Chabad center’s $3 million renovation and expansion, which will house three new ritual baths and an enlarged preschool. The center is directed by Rabbi Raphael and Goldie Tennenhaus. …
