Jewish community representatives in Minsk, Belarus, are anticipating a record-breaking shipment of matzah from Moscow in time for the upcoming holiday of Passover, which begins next month.

Officials predict that they’ll need 6.5 tons of the specially-baked unleavened bread for large and small communities throughout Belarus and a dozen other former Soviet republics.

“This year, we are again receiving a shipment of matzah from our colleagues in Moscow,” said Sholom Malinkin, chairman of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Belarus. “There will be enough to go around for all Jewish communities, whether or not they are affiliated with our organization.”
