Jews living in the Siberian city of Novosibirsk, Russia, were greeted by the specter of anti-Semitism with the appearance of dozens of posters spreading the age-old blood libel and warning parents to protect their children from Russian Jews as Passover approaches, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported.
Approximately 13,000 Jews live in Novosibirsk, Russia’s third-largest city. “We have always had anti-Semitism in the city and it has never disappeared,” said one local woman named Esther on the Web site of the Federation of Jewish Communities of the Former Soviet Union.
“While walking the streets, you constantly come across derogatory graffiti on walls and fences.” According to the report, Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Zalman Zaklos filed a complaint with city authorities. …
