The Shul of Bal Harbour, a Chabad-Lubavitch community center in Surfside, Fla., directed by Rabbi Sholom Dovber and Chani Lipskar, celebrated its 26th year with an evening of music and food.
Some 450 guests turned out for the occasion, which was dedicated to the community’s children.
The Shul Boys’ Choir led by Mendy Lev performed for the crowd, which filled a ballroom bedecked with turquoise and white. Local real estate investor and banker Claudio Stivelman received the dinner’s Zevulun philanthropic award, while neurologist Barry Baumel and his wife Carolyn Baumel were honored with the community’s “righteous healer” award. …
