The London neighborhood of Stamford Hill celebrated its soon-to-be-built Lubavitch Children’s Centre with a cornerstone-laying event on Monday.

A project of the Lubavitch Foundation and under the direction of Rabbi Sholem Sudak, the new building will have a children’s play area, a library and a nursery. The center will also house the organization’s Vista Program, a vocational school for adults.

MP Diane Julie Abbott, speaker of the Hackney District, which includes Stamford Hill, attended the ceremony.

Other notable attendees included district representative Faizullah Khan, district children’s supervisor Donna Thomas, and philanthropists Seymour Gorman and Leibish Friedman. …
